Random Act Of Kindness Award

Steve & Keziah have kindly nominated me for the Random Act of Kindness Award! Thank you, Steve and Keziah! This is really a neat tag! πŸ˜‰

RULES:

  • Thank the person that nominated you, and tag them.
  • Write a paragraph or more on the experience of an act of kindness or something you have read or seen, or done, yourself.
  • Nominate three people to participate in this award.
  • Paste and copy the picture from above on your post. Let the people you nominated know they have been nominated.

I work an after school job at an after school program and the kids that attend this program are from the public schools along with a lot of family brokenness and problems. It’s sad, but reality. From being in that atmosphere for the past few months, I learn so much about the kids’ lives that I work with. Recently, there was a 7 year old girl that came to my area for crafts. She really wanted another kid to play a little game (of writing notes back and forth) with her, but they didn’t want to. I agreed to play with her and she was happy with that. So, for the next 15 minutes, we wrote little notes to each other on paper. It was simple and easy, but to her it meant a lot! Sometimes, in person, a child doesn’t want to say what’s on their heart or what they’re struggling with, but many times, they can write it out. That’s exactly what she was like and she did on paper tell me everything on her heart. It was a wonderful, touching time. She learned she could trust me and we are now very good friends. Something very small can always make a big impact on someone else’s life!

  15. I agree that even just little things make a difference. Adults and children alike need that. Sometimes it is just a smile or a friendly word but something that lets that other person know that he or she matters. Thank you so much for all the kindness you have shown to me, Lydia. It means a great deal to me.
