I work an after school job at an after school program and the kids that attend this program are from the public schools along with a lot of family brokenness and problems. It’s sad, but reality. From being in that atmosphere for the past few months, I learn so much about the kids’ lives that I work with. Recently, there was a 7 year old girl that came to my area for crafts. She really wanted another kid to play a little game (of writing notes back and forth) with her, but they didn’t want to. I agreed to play with her and she was happy with that. So, for the next 15 minutes, we wrote little notes to each other on paper. It was simple and easy, but to her it meant a lot! Sometimes, in person, a child doesn’t want to say what’s on their heart or what they’re struggling with, but many times, they can write it out. That’s exactly what she was like and she did on paper tell me everything on her heart. It was a wonderful, touching time. She learned she could trust me and we are now very good friends. Something very small can always make a big impact on someone else’s life!
