My Shopping Experience Today

This morning, my sister and I woke up bright and early! Our goal was to get to Walmart to go shopping soon after they opened so they would be stocked up on everything. As we walked toward the entrance, the below pic shows what we saw.

Reminds me of a line for fair rides – except, thankfully empty! We got there early enough.
These signs were throughout the whole store’s floor.

We got there early enough to where there wasn’t any traffic control… yet. I can only imagine what it’s like there right now! Most of the shoppers were wearing masks and gloves. I just held my breath as I passed someone or they passed me. To answer the question that y’all are thinking, NO – there was NOT ANY toilet paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, there was food!!!!!! Yay! Oh, well.

Kind of what I looked like the whole time!
My shopping cart/buggy.
My sister’s shopping cart/buggy. Now whose looks healthier!?๐Ÿ˜œ
Check-out time!
Fill up the trunk…
Fill up the back seat… somehow, we crammed it all in!

After getting into the car, we sanitized ourselves like never before! While my sister uses the normal sanitizer, I use my own special kind. I’ve never liked the overwhelming scent of alcohol in the original kind, so I get mine from Bath & Body Works. They have a HUGE variety of specially scented sanitizers that still do as good of a job as the normal kind. Not only does it kill germs, but you smell good the rest of the day even though it was only used on your hands! ๐Ÿ™‚

My hand sanitizer

Overall, it was a pretty good shopping experience. We got there early, and it payed off. Getting home and unloading all the groceries was an experience in itself – like it always is!๐Ÿ˜†

  2. SO MUCH FOOD! I always wondered how people manage to fill their shopping carts. Now I know why: large families.

I like the Bath and Body Works hand sanitizers too, and I wait until they go on sale. Then I stock up on em’ ๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. Fun post!! Those grocery carts look like what the shopping trips for my family looks like……;-)

I agree; the Bath & Body Works scented hand sanitizers are so much better!! I really don’t like that alcohol smell.

  5. Woah! That’s crazy, I thought it was crazy at the local small supermarket in my area(they are only letting like ten people in the store at a time, and after a cart or basket is used they clean it with super strong germ cleaner). BTW, I still am able to find toilet paper, strangely.

      1. Yeah. Thanks, the supermarket in my area in my area got the message that people would be over buying early on, and started limiting on the amount people could buy, thankfully.

  10. Shopping is kind of crazy. A big family can be a challenge to buy for and then when you go to checkout someone always has a comment about how much you are buying.

  11. Fun to see your shopping experience. My dad and I went to Aldi yesterday and like everyone was wearing a mask or bandanna (if we get robbed you know why:-) You have to say shopping cart if you come here. If you say buggy we’ll probably think you’re Amish or something!

  12. Sounds fun! When I went at 7 there was already a line outside the store! But at least I got everything I wanted, though I had to go to 2 stores as our Walmart just has a very small grocery section, no fresh fruits and veggies or meat. It is such a different shopping experience now. Enjoy your food!๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜บ

Yes, it is getting crazy out there…to say the least! My mom went to the store the other day and said that all the canned goods were gone. The meat as well. I have never seen Walmart like this! Well, that being said, Walmart where we are at is always a madhouse, both in parking lot and store!

  14. Where I live I can not even go into the stores you have to be 16 and older. Which stinks because I have been wanting to get stuff.

  15. That’s a LOT! Monthly shopping? Your car is full ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค“. Glad you made it earlier, some people have reached late and suffered a lot. Especially this distancing rule. It’s for our own good, but old age people did suffer. Have a good day โœจ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ’

  16. Good for you. I went to one store, a really big no-frills type grocery store, and it was a death trap… way too crowded, and I was backed into a corner and people kept walking by too close to me and I couldn’t get to one of the first things I needed, so I walked out. I went to a regular grocery store after that, slightly more expensive but somewhat less crowded and more calm. However, the first place I went to has THE BEST generic store brand corn flakes, so when my current supply runs out I might be without good corn flakes for a while ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  21. Wow, Lydia! You did good girl. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

How do you fix your asparagus? Iโ€™ve wanted to try it, but Iโ€™m afraid too cook it. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ It reminds me of Veggie Tales. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Your buggy definitely looks healthier. I eat a lot of salads and veggies while my youngest daughter eats a lot of fruit and drinks so much milk that I have to get groceries weekly. ๐Ÿ˜“ Otherwise, I could just stay hold up for weeks/months and avoid the germs. Iโ€™m learning how to make produce last longer and I freeze some of the fruit. I am learning to freeze grapes and put them in a small dish to thaw as needed. Grapes are my daughterโ€™s favorite fruit, but they didnโ€™t always have good looking ones at the store (sometimes they actually have MOLD on them ๐Ÿ˜ณ) and I wonโ€™t buy them. Freezing the good grapes I do find has been great and I canโ€™t believe I didnโ€™t do it sooner.

Bath and body works sanitizer is the stuff!!! I used to stock up on it when I went to the mall. It smells sooooo good! I bought the one that smells like menโ€™s cologne for my Man so he would use it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Men donโ€™t usually want to smell like a cupcake, flowers or fruit.

    Love this post. ๐Ÿ’•

    1. Thanks so much, Charity!

Lol. I put some organic olive oil in a skillet and chopped the ends off of the asparagus. Throw those things in and watch out! They’ll pop and go crazy! After a few minutes of cooking, I season them. Cook until your desired softness.

Yep, I do the same thing. Now that is smart!

Yessssss!!!!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! {HUGS} โค โค โค

      2. It is! And when I said “chop the ends off of the asparagus” that means the stalky hard bottom ends. Not the awesome tops where the good stuff is! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m sure you knew that! ๐Ÿ™‚

        Thank you.

Oh! If you have a Costco close by, someone told me that they put out big cases of toilet paper on Tuesday and Thursday here. They said you have to go early and get in line. Maybe they do that at other Costco stores. If you can find out when a store is putting it out, you might be able to score some. My son-in-law works at an office supply store and he just brought me a big pack of toilet paper and big pack of paper towels! This is the second time he’s been able to get some. It goes really fast when they get it in. I would never have thought to check an office supply store. I was floored.

  26. I haven’t tried shopping at the grocery store since they made it so much more restricted. My husband Rick went to get a few items today, and he said it wasn’t too bad, not as bad as what they made it sound like it would be. We also ordered some groceries online, but the earliest delivery date is next Wednesday, so that is why he made a trip to the store today to get stuff we needed now. It is crazy! Glad you made it there and back safely and that you got enough food to feed your family for a little while, it looks like. ๐Ÿ™‚
